CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAZY HAIR

First, I guess I should give a little background, before I show you the pictures. A couple weekends ago when we went to the festival in Marietta, Paul and Brooke noticed a booth entitled Crazy Hair. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that in said booth, you could get your hair made crazy for $6; basically, they sprayed your hair crazy colors, pinned it up, and stuck various things in your hair, such as fake butterflies. Needless to say, Brooke was hooked; she had her little heart set on getting "crazy hair", but I had my heart set on not spending $6 for someone to spray her hair (a can of the spray is only about $1.88 at Wal-mart). I also knew that if Brooke had her hair done, than Braden would want his hair sprayed as well; of course, now our grand total would be up to about $12, so I told them both that I would buy some colored spray from Wal-mart and work my own crazy hair magic. Well, Sunday night, I made good on my promise. After giving them "crazy hair", I am even more glad I didn't pay $6 for Brooke to have her hair done, because her version of crazy hair was putting her hair in pigtails (excuse me, she refers to them as two ponytails; she explained to me that she isn't a pig) and having me spray it pink. Braden however was a little braver and let me spike his hair. Emma also got in on the act. After our crazy hair session was complete, we did the only thing good upstanding citizens can do, we loaded the children into the wagon and went on a walk around the block for all of the world to see. I think Rich may have been a little embarrassed or either he just thought I was nuts, or both, I'm not sure which? Either way, the kids had a blast, and that is what counts!

(I think it is safe to say that Braden was very pleased with the results!)

(I couldn't quite get all of the curls in front without spraying her head pink as well, but she liked the results.)

And last, but certainly not least, is Emma our little crazy hair rocker. Alas, we have no before pictures; she wouldn't sit still long enough for such things, and in all honesty, she didn't really want to be still for the after pictures either (as you can probably tell).

Rich's Birthday Party

The Sign

(done at the last minute, 10 minutes before Rich was due to come home, Braden was in his room with my hair dryer drying the paint; we didn't want it to drip)

The Bug Cake Rich Requested

(I think he picked this one, because he thought it would gross out the cuties. For everyone's birthday, I have them take a gander at my collection of cake recipes I have gathered from various websites: family fun, family circle, etc., and they get to pick one they want me to attempt to recreate; the bug cake is from family fun. I let Braden and Brooke help me put the bugs on the cake, some were edible, but most were plastic.)

Menu

(some of Rich's favorites)

Ribs
Loaded Baked Potatoes
Sweet Peas
Parmesan Garlic Toast
Bug Cake
Bunny Tracks Ice Cream

The Birthday Boy

(Yes, he had to help grill his birthday meal; don't worry, he only did the last step. I cook them in the oven for 2 hours, but then they need to be grilled for about 3 minutes on each side to achieve the pinnacle of deliciousness.)

The cuties happily polishing off a piece of cake

The cutie who was mistakenly left alone with the cake

(We had finished our meal and had moved the party to the family room; I knew something was wrong when I hadn't heard from Emma, so I immediately went to investigate. This is what I found upon entering the kitchen.)

Luckily, she only had time to do this

I caught her only a few swipes into the "dirt" mound; I don't want to think about the destruction that would have ensued if I had been a minute too late, because we all know what she did to her own birthday cake.

All in all, it was a fun night together; Rich loved the meal, the cuties had fun planning it, and we met our goal of making Rich feel special. He also loved his presents: a University of Utah polo, an I-tunes gift card, and a set of dominoes (which Rich and I used almost immediately to play a couple rounds of Chicken Foot).

Rich...

My husband, my best friend, my love

(pregnant with Emma in this picture)

A fantastic father

A loyal son

(the only picture I could find of Rich with his parents- really need to rectify that)

A loving sibling

Happy Birthday my Love

Today my handsome stud turned 35; I'm sure his mama is wondering where the time went. I know Braden is only 5, and I am wondering how he got so old so quick! We spent the night celebrating Rich and all that he means to us, but before I tell you about that here is a quick flashback photo tribute to my love.
